WORSHIP AND COMMUNION UNDER EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES

Holy Cross and Friends:

Following CDC direction on group meetings, we are suspending worship and events at HolyCross.
However, we will stream live worship at HolyCrossLive and will continue to share events and opportunities through social media, email and the website.

If you are interested in participating in Holy Communion, we will be celebrating in our homes.  Yes - you read correctly - in our homes.  We will use "heads of households" - as referenced by Martin Luther and C.F.W. Walther - with pastoral approval and guidance to distribute elements in our homes.

On one hand, we understand that refraining from the Lord's Supper will not limit God's grace through His varied means.  We also understand the comfort, blessing and forgiveness given through the Lord's Supper.  During your worship time online (whenever that might be), Pastor Hafer will consecrate the elements. Then, the head of the household will distribute the bread and the wine to confirmed members of the family.  Members taking part can know they are communing as a congregation.

We ask families to provide their own wine.  Wafers, in zipped, locked bags, will be supplied by Holy Cross for both upcoming online worship services.  Pick them up at the church front doors from a staff member on Saturday, March 28th between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m. You can also drop off offering at this time. We hope to have an online tithing option available within the next few days or you can mail your tithe.

We affirm the importance of worship and the Sacrament even by these unusual means.  We trust this will prove a blessing to our participants.
